ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Moorhead wrestlers were perfect on the first day of the Minnesota state wrestling tournament, scoring a pair of wins at the Xcel Energy Center.
At 152 pounds, Ben Gaughan cruised to a 14-7 victory over Owatonna's Tyler Thomas. At 215 pounds, Mark Wychor notched a 9-3 decision over Robbinsdale Armstrong's Bronson Kittleson.
Both juniors will face ranked wrestlers in Thursday's quarterfinals. Gaughan will face Tartan's Troy Morisette, the 10th-ranked wrestler at 152. Wychor will go against ninth-ranked Ethan Reed of Albert Lea Area.
