MOORHEAD — The Moorhead girls basketball team erased a six-point deficit in the final two minutes of play to finish with a 63-60 victory over Rogers Friday night in Class 4A, Section 8 hoops.
Junior Samantha Zimmerman and senior Megan Haugo both notched double-doubles for the Spuds. Zimmerman paced the offense with 22 points while adding 14 rebounds. Haugo tallied 15 points and 10 boards to go along with six assists. Rylie Polomny contributed 20 points.
The visiting Royals were led by Ellie Buzzelle's 22 points.
With the season-opening win, Moorhead moves to 1-0. The Spuds return to the hardwood at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 on the road against Buffalo.
