WEST FARGO - A week after signing a professional baseball contract, former West Fargo standout Matt Strahm now knows where he will make his pro debut.

Strahm, who was drafted in the 21st round by the Kansas City Royals, has been assigned to the Idaho Falls Chukars - a rookie ball affiliate of the Royals that plays in the Pioneer League.

Strahm, a left-handed pitcher, is coming off a solid season with Neosho County Community College in Kansas, where he finished 9-3 with a 1.48 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 99 innings pitched. Strahm also had 11 complete games and held opposing hitters to a .211 batting average.

After signing with the Royals on June 7, Strahm participated in a week-long camp in Arizona and was evaluated by Royals officials.

It has yet to be determined when Strahm will make his pro debut. The Chukars open the season with a five-game homestand June 18-22.
