BISMARCK — Sophomore Katelin Winter placed fifth in the 200-meter IM to pace the Minnesota State Moorhead swimming and diving team on Day 1 of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships at BSC Aquatic and Wellness Center.

Winter swam the 200 IM in 2 minutes, 9.53 seconds to earn fifth place, MSUM's highest finisher on the day. Senior Breah Anderson won the B final of the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.84 seconds, finishing ninth overall. The Dragons' A 200 medley relay team of Lexie Bray, Erin Fons, Winter and Anderson claimed eighth place at 1:47.17.

As a team, the Dragons have 55 points and are in sixth place. Sioux Falls holds the top spot with 191 points, St. Cloud State is in second with 149 and Minnesota State-Mankato is third at 131.

Day 2 of competition begins at 10 a.m. Thursday.
