OMAHA, Neb. — Fargo's Eric Anderson's quest for a 50-meter freestyle spot on the U.S. Olympic swim team ended Saturday night at USA Swimming's U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the CHI Health Center.
A Fargo Shanley graduate, the 18-year-old Anderson finished in a tie for 50th finishing in 23.03 seconds in the 50 free Wave II semifinals.
Caeleb Dressel is the top 50 freestyle qualifier with a 21.04 and Michael Andrew secured a spot with a 21.48. Dressel also is the top U.S. qualifier in the 100 freestyle (47.39) and the 100 butterfly (49.87).
Anderson, a seven-time North Dakota state champion in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle earned a Wave II spot swimming a 22.57 in the Wave I competition on June 7.
