The Forum's Carissa Wigginton named North Dakota Sportswriter of the Year

It's the Fargo native's first time winning the National Sports Media Association award

FARGO — Forum sports reporter Carissa Wigginton won the North Dakota Sportswriter of the Year award, the National Sports Media Association announced on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Wigginton , a Fargo native and Arizona State University graduate, has been covering high school sports for The Forum since August 2019. It's Wigginton's first time winning the award, which will be recognized at the NSMA's awards weekend and national convention slated from June 25-27 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Forum sportswriters have won the award 18 times since the NSMA was founded in 1959.

Brian Shawn of Midco Sports Network won North Dakota Sportscaster of the Year.
