North Dakota State senior Scott Johnson broke a hammer throw school record with a throw of 193 feet, 4 inches at the Bison Open on Friday.
John Christensen set the previous record with a throw of 192 feet, 5 inches in 2005.
The Bison Open continues today with field events starting at noon and running events starting at 2:30 p.m.
