LONG BEACH, Calif. — Freshman Shyrone Kemp posted a personal-best mark in the triple jump for the Minnesota State Moorhead track and field team Saturday, the final day of competition at the Long Beach Invitational.

Kemp's leap of 47 feet, 9 1/2 inches was good for 22nd place and a personal best. He was within centimeters of an NCAA provisional qualifying jump.

Sophomore Chris Cook had a mark of 6-9 in the high jump to finish tied for 13th.

Summer Strom placed 40th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1 minute, 6.12 seconds.

The Dragons will send several athletes to the Cobber Twilight meet Tuesday, hosted by Concordia.
