MOORHEAD — Minnesota State Moorhead senior Nadir Yusuf has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's outdoor track athlete of the year, the league announced Thursday, May 20.

Yusuf, a Willmar (Minn.) High School graduate, is fresh off a decorated NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where he captured titles in the 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters. In the 10,000, Yusuf's time of 29 minutes, 53.73 seconds was good for a meet record by more than 27 seconds. The 5,000 was a similar story as his 14:91.51 was a school and meet record, and an NCAA provisional mark.

Earlier this season, he made history at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, becoming the first Dragon individual to ever win an event at the meet. Yusuf graduated this spring and has five NSIC track titles during his career.
