HILLSBORO, N.D. — Gatorade announced Kaden Pastian of Hillsboro-Central Valley as its recipient of the Gatorade North Dakota Boys Track and Field Player of the Year on Thursday, July 8.

Pastian is the first Gatorade North Dakota Track and Field Player of the Year to be selected from H-CV.

The award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character. Pastian is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Track and Field Player of the Year award to be announced later this month.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Pastian swept the shot put and discus titles at the Class B state meet this past season, helping lead the Burros to a tie for third place. Pastian's toss of 192 feet in the discus was a meet record. Off the track, he has maintained a 3.98 GPA.

Pastian is signed to continue his track and field career at North Dakota State this fall.
