UND hockey team unveils jerseys for Las Vegas game
The Fighting Hawks will wear black Nodak jerseys when they face Arizona State on Oct. 29.
GRAND FORKS — UND wore green jerseys for its 2018 destination game in Las Vegas.
It wore green against last season in Nashville.
For its next destination game, it will be wearing black.
On Monday morning, UND unveiled special jerseys it will wear for the 2022 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game next month in Las Vegas against Arizona State.
The jerseys say 'Nodak' in green across the front. They are similar to the alternate white home jerseys UND released last season, which were a hit among fans and instantly sold out.
The black Nodak jerseys will be on sale at the Sioux Shop inside Ralph Engelstad Arena and online beginning today.
Hi everyone. Be sure to check back often this week as we roll out our season preview stories!
The jerseys have several notable details on them.
The helmets will have a 'Nodak' sticker. On the shoulder, there will be a patch with the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game logo. On the back of the jersey above the nameplate, the Fighting Hawks logo will be present. And on the inside of the collar, a quote from the late Ralph Engelstad is scripted: "The harder I work, the luckier I get."
Engelstad, a UND goalie in the 1950s, went on to own a casino in Las Vegas. He built UND's current hockey arena and his family members still live in Vegas.
UND is expected to wear the jerseys just once.
Last year, the Fighting Hawks also had special green jerseys for the U.S. Hall of Fame Game. Those were modeled after the 1994 uniforms that said "North Dakota" across the front.
