FARGO - Widespread flooding in Minot this summer will not affect high school state and district tournaments scheduled for the upcoming school year in the city, according to a Minot school official.
Minot Public Schools Superintendent Mark Vollmer said Wednesday that the high school's football field, basketball gymnasium and soccer fields were not significantly harmed by Souris River flooding that caused an estimated $50 million in damage to school property.
"We are on target and ready to go," Vollmer said.
Minot is scheduled to host several North Dakota High School Activities Association sanctioned events.
In November, the school district has been tapped to host the District 6 volleyball tournament at the Minot Auditorium, and the West Region and state volleyball tournaments at the Minot State Dome.

The Minot State Dome was also not affected by floodwaters, Vollmer said.
Minot is also on the activities association calendar for Region 6 boys basketball and West Region hockey in February, Region 6 girls basketball in March, West Region boys golf and West Region boys tennis next May and Class A state boys golf in June.
Minot Public Schools will start several days late this year to allow the district to relocate about 1,200 students and about 160 teachers and staff members.
Many of those relocated will be housed in portable classrooms, Minot's auditorium, a church and a Job Corps center.
"We're good to go," Vollmer said of hosting high school events.
