USHL hockey: Fargo Force breeze past Sioux City Musketeers

Three third-period goals provide the final margin.

FARGO — A trio of third period goals secured a 6-2 win for the Fargo Force over visiting Sioux City Friday night, Feb. 19 at the Scheels Arena.

Austin Wong got the Force off to a quick start, netting a goal off an assist from Bear Hughes 44 seconds into the contest.

The rest of the first period remained goalless, though Sioux City took the lead on Bennett Schmiek and Ben Steeves tallies, carrying a 2-1 advantage deep into the second period.

Fargo quickly erased the deficit, with Ryan Richardson and Hughes both scoring in the space of 12 seconds to restore the Force's lead.

Opening the final period with a 3-2 advantage, Jacob Bracini found the back of the net for the Force, while Tristan Broz added a pair of goals to provide the final tally.

The Force outshot the Musketeers 36 to 22, with Fargo goalie Brennan Boynton making 20 stops.

Owen Gallatin notched two assists for the hosts.

The Force improved to 20-11-2 on the season and remained atop the Western Conference with 42 points. The Musketeers fell to 14-16-1 and with 29 points sit fifth in the conference.

The Force will again host Sioux City at 6:05 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20.
