USHL hockey: Force fall short in rally attempt against Des Moines

Fargo fell behind by two goals but Des Moines held off the Force over the final half of the third to win 3-2 on Thursday

FARGO — The Fargo Force fell behind by two goals in the third period and couldn't get all the way back as Des Moines claimed a 3-2 win Thursday at the Scheels Arena.

Des Moines took a 2-0 lead on a first-period goal from Tanner Latsch and a Alex Laferriere goal in the second.

Aaron Huglen got Fargo on the board at 5:19 of the third period but Des Moines' Davis Burnside reestablished the two-goal advantage less than two minutes later.

Fargo's Jacob Braccini scored at 11:30 but Des Moines held off the Force down the stretch. The Force play next in Omaha at 6:05 p.m. Saturday.
