USHL hockey: Lincoln pitches shutout in win over Force

Stars' goalie Cameron Whitehead made 27 saves to backstop a victory over Fargo on Friday at the Ice Box in Lincoln.

LINCOLN, Neb. — Lincoln goalie Cameron Whitehead pitched the shutout and the Stars defeated the Fargo Force 4-0 on Friday in the first of two weekend games at the Ice Box.

Whitehead stopped 27 shots and the Stars killed off all six Force power plays.

Lincoln's Michael Mesic, tanner Ludtke and Keaton Peters scored first-period goals and Doug Grimes made it 4-0 with a second-period goals. Ali Brennan added an empty net goal in the third.

The teams play again at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Ice Box.
