The Eagles hold off the Mustangs 70-64
FARGO — Bison men remain perfect at home on the weekend after defeating Denver 73-65.
The Bison jumped to a 13 point lead early in the second half, but the Pioneers rallied behind Coban Porter to jump in front. Later in the half, a flip switched for NDSU. Rocky Kreuser knocked down a game high of 23 points to improve the Bison to 8-4 in Summit League play.
The Bison three-game home stand continues Monday against South Dakota.
In Denver, the Bison women fell to the Pioneers 84-62. Heaven Hamling tried sparking a comeback for NDSU, cutting the lead down to seven in the fourth quarter, but was unsuccessful. Hamling finished with a team high of 14 points. Meghan Boyd kept Denver out in front the entire game, leading all players with 17 points.
Denver picks up its third conference win, two of those coming from defeating the Bison.
For the first time since February 2021, the UND men's basketball team has won a conference game. North Dakota defeated Omaha, 92-85 behind a game high 21 points from freshman Paul Bruns.
The UND women make it back-to-back wins, after defeating the Mavericks in Omaha, 74-61. Olivia Lane scored a team high 16 points, Kacie Borowicz chipped in 15. A 17-1 run in the second quarter was the difference maker as UND improves to 14-10 on the season.
It was a top five match in Class A boy's basketball on Saturday, as No. 2 Davies defeated No. 4 Sheyenne 70-64. This snapped an 11-game win streak for the Mustangs. Freshman Mason Klabo led the Eagles with 22 points, while Kaleb Larson scored a game high 25 for Sheyenne.
