Karter Menz still has one more season to play for the Sheyenne Mustangs, but he's already made history.
The junior defensive end announced his commitment to the University of Minnesota on Monday, becoming the Mustangs first high-major DI commit for football.
Menz dominated in 2021, totaling 57 tackles and 11.5 sacks, helping lead Sheyenne to its first football state championship.
It's a fitting end to a busy time for Menz, who just returned from an official visit with the Gophers this weekend.

For a second straight season, Moorhead is one of the final eight teams left to play for a state championship. On Tuesday, top-seeded Benilde-St. Margaret's stands looming in the Spuds path. It's the second year in a row Moorhead will face the Red Knights.
"We've kind of built this program from the ground up and we're proud of what we've done and we have to keep going in that direction," said Spud senior defender Matt Peters.
