WATCH: Six spring state tournaments underway in WDAY's 6:00 sportscast for June 3

Spring state tournaments return a year after not taking place because of COVID-19.

FARGO --For the first time since 2019, baseball, softball, soccer, and tennis state tournaments are happening in North Dakota.

In the early Class A baseball games, Shanley defeated Century, 2-0. The Deacons will play Dickinson in the semifinals after the Midgets held off West Fargo, 3-2.

In Class A softball, Valley City started out firing on all cylinders, notching a 10-3 win over Jamestown. Up next is Dickinson, the Midgets took down Sheyenne with a 5-2 quarterfinal win.

Class B baseball saw an early upset. Second-seeded Central Cass loses to Renville County, 7-3. The Muskrats will play LaMoure-Litchville-Marion, who took down North Star 11-4.

Des-Lacs Burlington/Lewis and Clark got the Class B softball bracket started with a 5-0 win over May-Port-C-G. The Lakers will play Thompson in the next round. The Tommies also shutout it's quarterfinal opponent, getting a 10-0 win over Beulah.

On the pitch, top West seed Minot got things rolling the girls soccer state tournament with a convincing 4-0 win over West Fargo. Shanley-Oak Grove will play the Majettes in the next round, the Deacons taking out Bismarck with a 3-1 win.
