VERMILLION, S.D. — University of South Dakota wide receiver Jeremiah Webb made the catch heard around South Dakota and the Division I Football Championship Subdivision on Saturday afternoon at the DakotaDome.
Webb hauled in a tipped 57-yard 'Hail Mary' touchdown pass from QB Carson Camp as time expired to lift the Coyotes to a dramatic 23-20 victory against No. 4-ranked South Dakota State in Missouri Valley Football Conference play.
On the play, Camp rolled to his right and heaved the ball toward the end zone. An SDSU defender first tipped the ball at around the 5-yard line and it was tipped again before Webb grabbed the ball around the goal line and leaned into the end zone.
The score set off a raucous celebration for No. 19-ranked USD, which improved to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference standings.

"As crazy as that play was I really thought our kids deserved to win that football game," Bob Nielson says.
The Jackrabbits tried to run out the game's final eight seconds on a fourth-and-1 play at the USD 43-yard line. SDSU quarterback Chris Oladokun scrambled and heaved the ball downfield, but it was ruled there was 1 second remaining on the game clock after an official review. That set the stage for Camp's dramatic TD pass to Webb.
Stig defends the decision to go for it instead of the punt. Said they've practiced that play and it usually takes 8 or 9 seconds.
SDSU dropped to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the Missouri Valley.
