FARGO - Pursuing hockey as a career is different than other sport, as an eighteen-year-old has to make a decision that could change his life.
Grand Forks Red River product Braeden Costello and Moorhead Spud Ethan Frisch are currently pursuing their dreams in the United States Hockey League with the Green Bay Gamblers, leaving high school early to jump-start their hockey careers.
“You have to go move to a different city, live with a different family who are pretty much strangers, but they do make it easy for you. Obviously, the billets are really nice and the coaches they make it super easy for you, so it is a change, but it’s fun.” Costello said.
“It’s different, it pushes you out of your comfort zone, obviously you’re not living at home you’re with a billet family so people you’ve never met before and a bunch of guys you’ve never met before, but it’s really nice to have a bunch of people working towards the same goal to be able to push each other day-in-day-out, so it’s been great.” Frisch said.

Frisch and Costello will not only play together in Green Bay, but also in college. Each has committed to play at the University of North Dakota, so their time sharing the bench is just beginning.
Costello said: “Yeah me and Frisch have gotten really close, I think just having that connection where we are both from around the same area and have the same future ahead of us it's been really nice for us.”
“We’ve got a lot of Minnesota guys on our team and a lot of guys I’ve met before and obviously with Braden coming over I knew him from Elite league and with him being in Grand Forks its close and we know of each other and both committed to North Dakota it’s been great to have him around and get to know him better and it's great to have him.” Frisch said.

Costello has played in 31 games for the Gamblers so far this season, scoring two goals and has a total of six points. Frisch has played in 32 games and racked up 13 points so far this season. Green Bay has a record of 14-17-4-1 on the season and sits eighth in the Eastern Conference of the USHL.
