WATCH: Walker excited to join Entz at NDSU, Olson rockets to college commitment in WDAY's 10 PM sports
Lewis Walker was hired in February as NDSU's new cornerbacks coach.
FARGO — Lewis Walker and Matt Entz were no strangers to each other. The two coaches had previously been connected through former North Dakota State offensive line coach AJ Blazek.
Walker and Entz had talked for more than four years, with the potential of working together on the table.
In February, the right scenario finally played out when Entz hired Walker onto his defensive staff as cornerbacks coach, a spot that was left open when defensive ends coach Buddha Williams took a job at Colorado State.
"The level and the confidence that I bring, the level of detail and then obviously a fresh set of eyes," Walker said on what he brings to the Bison.
Kindred senior Paul Olson decided to pick up track just a couple weeks ago. Three meets into his career, he's already won over the coaches at NDSU.
Olson announced his commitment to the Bison on Thursday night. The senior has broken five Kindred school records since beginning with the team.
After leading the Vikings' boys basketball team to two straight Class B state title games, it's a rapid shift of plans.
"Pretty crazy because I always thought I was gonna go and play basketball somewhere," Olson said. "Then all of a sudden this just came up and I just kind of went with it."
