West Fargo Sheyenne H.S. announces four coaching hires

WEST FARGO - West Fargo Sheyenne High School has hired head coaches for its varsity football, volleyball, and boys and girls basketball teams on Tuesday.

WEST FARGO - West Fargo Sheyenne High School has hired head coaches for its varsity football, volleyball, and boys and girls basketball teams on Tuesday.

The school announced that Jeremy Newton, a former Moorhead High School graduate, has accepted the football coaching position and his wife Leah Newton has accepted the volleyball position.

In addition to the football and volleyball, Sheyenne announced the hires of Tom Kirchoffner as the school's boys basketball coach and Brent Hintz as the girls basketball coach.

The Newtons currently teach and coach at Los Lunas High School in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

Jeremy Newton has compiled a 30-6 record in three years as the head coach at Los Lunas. He was named the state's Class 4A coach of the year last fall after guiding Los Lunas to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the Class 4A state cham-pionship game.

Newton will be employed as a physical education teacher at Sheyenne High School.

Leah Newton has coached the Los Lunas volleyball the last two seasons. The team was undefeated in district play both seasons.

West Fargo Sheyenne is set to field varsity teams in football, volleyball, and boys and girls basketball during the 2014-15 school year.
