WEST FARGO - West Fargo senior wrestler Preston Lehmann was one of 49 high school grapplers to be selected by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum as a recipient of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Awards on Friday.
Lehmann, a three-time state champion, represented North Dakota on the awards list, which also included five regional finalists for the national award, which will be announced May 6.
The award, which was created in 1996 to honor former Olympic and world champion Dave Schultz, is based excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship and community service.
Lehmann, a North Dakota State wrestling signee, finished his senior year with a 50-0 record and a 182-pound state championship. He also owns the state's single season and career pins records.
