West Fargo freshman Alissa Mears was named the 2008-09 Gatorade North Dakota Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year on Thursday.
Mears won the North Dakota Class A state meet with a time of 14 minutes, 46.22 seconds while leading the Packers to second place in the team standings. Mears placed fourth individually as an eighth-grader.
Mears was also a Class A first team all-state selection this past fall.
