MOORHEAD — After conceding five unanswered goals, the Concordia men's hockey team fell 7-2 to Wisconsin-Eau Claire in nonconference play Friday night.
The Cobbers opened the scoring midway through the opening frame with a strike from Kyle Siemers. The Blugolds erased the lead with a goal late in the frame as the two sides took a 1-1 scoreline into the first intermission.
Eau Claire found the back of the net quickly in the second period, but Siemers countered with his second goal of the night to level the score.
The tie lasted all of 38 seconds when Jarrad Vroman gave the Blugolds a lead they would not relinquish. Eau Claire doubled their lead on a powerplay tally 24 seconds later. Three more goals followed to seal the win.
Brock Montgomery, Tyler Bossert and Aaron Herdt each notched assists for the Cobbers. Concordia was outshot 35-16.

The loss dropped Concordia to 4-8-2, while the Blugolds improved to 12-2-1. The two sides will clash at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Moorhead Sports Center.
