FARGO - North Dakota State found success with a 6-foot-3 guard from the Milwaukee area in Lawrence Alexander. The Bison will hope for repeat success with Carlin Dupree.

The senior guard from Bay View High School in Milwaukee gave the Bison a verbal commitment. NDSU was Dupree's only scholarship offer, although he received looks from the University of Detroit, Kent State and Toledo. He did not play AAU basketball, which Bay View head coach Tyler Podoll said kept him under the radar until a five-state tour of games Podoll put together this summer.

"He was blowing up because of all the film we were sending coaches," Podoll said. "North Dakota State came in quickly and was the most aggressive. They were helping Carlin while others were in the process of looking and watching.

Dupree joins Fargo Shanley's A.J. Jacobson as the commitments for 2013-14. Dupree averaged 14.2 points, 8.2 assists and 7.9 rebounds as a junior.

"He's real long as a ballhandler," Podoll said. "Lawrence was the (Summit League's) Newcomer of the Year and I expect Carlin to be the same thing,"
