The University of North Dakota women's hockey team hired an Olympic medal-winning coach to serve as an assistant on its staff Wednesday.

Sioux head coach Brian Idalski announced that Peter Elander - who has coached the Sweden national women's team for the last nine years - will serve as associate head coach.

Elander led the Swedes to a silver medal at the 2006 Torino Games and coached them in last month's Vancouver Games.
