FARGO-Bret Maughan, a four-time state wrestling champion at Fargo North High School, has been named the school's head wrestling coach.

Maughan, who replaces Sean Ritchie and Graelin Garlington as the Spartans' head coach, became a two-time All-American wrestler at North Dakota State. Maughan was the head wrestling coach at Moorhead from 1995 to 2000 and was an assistant coach at NDSU from 2001 to 2014.

Maughan is currently a paraprofessional at Ben Franklin Middle School in Fargo.

"Bret brings a wealth of experience to the position," said North activities coordinator Travis Christensen. "Bret cares deeply about using the sport of wrestling to help young people grow and learn."
