WeatherTalk: Summer is getting old and tired

Weather Talk.jpg

The weather remains warm and humid, but the summer is waning. This time of year bears some resemblance to the winter during March. March blizzards are notorious and winter snow depth often reaches its peak in March. However, people tired of winter know that once March arrives, the winter is getting old. Likewise, this time of year summer is getting old. September often brings many warm days and usually a few hot ones. There may even be another outbreak or two of severe thunderstorms.

Nevertheless, the inevitable change in solar radiation cannot be overcome. As the daylight gets shorter, the frequency of cooler days will increase. There will be fewer storms and more days that just rain. Leaves will brighten and then fall. Bird and insect migrations will begin. In just a few more weeks, morning frost will become routine. As the saying goes, it is what it is; and what it is, is the end of summer.
