West Fargo police recruits college students

College students in law enforcement and criminal justice-related programs are eligible.

WEST FARGO — West Fargo Police Department is looking for college student to join their ranks.

The department is converting the previous full-time community service officer position into multiple part-time jobs for students enrolled in law enforcement or criminal justice programs.

Those selected will be enforcing parking and animal ordinances, and assisting sworn and civilian staff members with other tasks.

Chief Denis Otterness says they are hoping to bring in a new generation of recruits with these job openings.

"We're really trying to target those people in those programs that are interested in a career in law enforcement," Otterness said. "Get them in the door early, (and) provide them some on the job training."
