WEST FARGO — The city of West Fargo and West Fargo Public Art Advisory Committee are searching for local artists to exhibit their work in the annual Art Social at West Fargo City Hall.
The event is scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in the grand foyer of West Fargo City Hall, 800 Fourth Ave. E.
The free event provides an opportunity for the community to connect and celebrate local art. This year's theme is a retrospective on the personal and public events of 2020. Artists are instructed to explore this theme through the medium of their choosing to demonstrate lessons learned from 2020 that will positively affect the future.
Artist selection will be a two-step process. The West Fargo Public Art Advisory Committee will review all submissions and create a list of recommendations, which will then go to city representatives for final approval.
Selection criteria will include artistic merit as evidenced by the submittal materials, execution of the theme and maintaining a variety of mediums for the event. Submission materials should include an artwork description with the artist's name, artwork title, artwork medium and dimensions. It should also include a visual of the completed or initial work, artist statement regarding the work and anticipated installation needs.
Art submissions are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, by emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Selected artists will receive notification by Thursday, Jan. 7, and should be ready for installation by Wednesday, Feb. 24, and available to attend the event.
