WEST FARGO —Fargo-Moorhead area tequila lovers will soon have a place to practice calling for more of the agave-based spirit in Spanish.
Mas Tequila is now under construction, with concrete work happening on the site a couple blocks west of the intersection of Sheyenne Street and 32nd Avenue West, just south of The Lights at Sheyenne 32 complex and the West Fargo Sports Arena.
“We’re going to have every single tequila that you can get in the states,” co-owner Juan Perez said Friday, Dec. 11. “We’re going to have the greatest selection of tequila in the states.”
Perez said that he and his partners, Alberto Arellano and Ruben Leon, are aiming to open the 4,000-square-foot business in June.. They will be seeking licenses to offer both on-sale and off-sale service.
The business will have some food service - seven styles of tacos, some burritos, chicken wings and nachos, and operate as a family restaurant until 9 p.m. After that, Mas Tequila will go into full bar mode, Perez said.
It will be “a little bit of food with a great atmosphere,” Perez said. “You’re going to feel like you’re in Mexico, that’s going to be the atmosphere.”
Perez said he likes that there are several bars and restaurants in that part of West Fargo, among them Hooligans, Bar Down sports bar and restaurant, Traditions Restaurant & Bar and Ole & Lena’s Pizzeria, since people out for a night on the town will often go to several places to eat and drink.

“We have the right concept. We have something that’s going to fit” the Fargo-Moorhead area, he said.
This is the first planned Mas Tequila. If the concept works, others will follow, Perez said.
“If we do well, we’ll expand to Sioux Falls, that’s the next place,” he said.
