I am writing this article today with a heartfelt abundance of gratitude for all the staff in West Fargo Public Schools. We are winding down what has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging and exhausting years in education.

Through it all, every single WFPS staff member has exhibited an inspiring amount of resiliency, dedication, and compassion for students and their colleagues. As a district and as professionals, we were faced with many unknowns, and when asked to do more or do it differently, our educators and support staff have done so while maintaining a focus on student success and wellbeing.

National Teacher Appreciation Week is traditionally an opportunity to honor our classroom teachers, and while they deserve more acknowledgement than can possibly be given, this year it is equally as critical to honor each person who makes West Fargo Public Schools the district of choice. While it is our educational leaders in the classroom who provide an unmatched learning experience for students, it is also:

  • custodians who maintain learning environments;
  • principals who lead;
  • bus drivers who transport;
  • counselors who listen;
  • nurses who heal;
  • paraprofessionals who support;
  • cooks who feed;
  • coordinators who plan and train;
  • skilled technicians who manage the hiring, payroll, technology, accounting and communication operations of the district;
  • and SO MANY MORE valued members of our team.

Every person in every position has a purpose and role in advancing our mission of educating today’s learners for tomorrow’s world.

As we reflect on National Teacher Appreciation Week, please take a moment to reflect on how fortunate our community is to have an amazing education system with dedicated employees that provide our children with a safe, high quality, personalized educational experience. If you see one of West Fargo Public School’s finest, please extend your gratitude as we bring a close to the 2020-2021 school year.
