WEST FARGO — A man's quick thinking may have helped prevent severe damage to a home near where a construction vehicle caught fire Wednesday afternoon, May 26.
According to the West Fargo Fire Department:
Fire crews were dispatched to a construction vehicle on fire in the 1000 block of Ashley Drive West around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday. An individual on scene jumped into the burning van and drove it away from a nearby house that had caught fire to prevent the fire from spreading.
Fire officials said the man received minor burns to his face and hands. Other construction workers on the scene used fire extinguishers on the house and put out the fire.
Firefighters extinguished the van fire, officials said, but the vehicle was a total loss.
Some of the fire trucks that responded to the blaze had been stationed along the funeral procession route for West Fargo Police Lt. Adam Gustafson when the fire call came in.
