FARGO — The YMCA of Cass and Clay counties is celebrating Healthy Kids Day by opening their doors to the community on Saturday, April 30.

Both the Fercho (400 1st Avenue South) and Schlossman (4243 19th Avenue South) YMCAs will be open from 2-8 p.m. and children will have access to the Climbing Wall Aquatic Center, youth play areas and other activities set up in the basketball gym area.

Additionally, exclusive coupons and discounts for summer camp, YMCA memberships and more will be provided.

Healthy Kids Day is the YMCA's national initiative to improve the health and well-being of families and to kick start physical activity and learning throughout the summer, the YMCA said in a press release.

Kids are typically less physically active and engaged in learning during the summer months. Research shows that without access to activities that stimulate the mind and body, kids are more prone to gain weight and fall behind academically over the summer months, the YMCA said in a press release.
